Block by Block independent publishers network

2010-2012

Block by Block is a national community of independent publishers first identified as a constituency by Knight Foundation’s Michele McLellan during her research at the Reynolds Journalism Institute. The group began meeting on an annual basis in 2010 to share information and map out the relatively uncharted territory of hyperlocal journalism.

In 2012, an independent trade group emerged out of BxB as the LION Publishers.

I was a member of the BxB advisory committee to the Patterson Foundation, a regular blogger for the site, and a panelist, facilitator and blogger at various BxB gatherings.
